Devina Maru, co-founder
Devina has experience in both national and international healthcare strategy, policy, and implementation with particular focus in innovation, new models of primary healthcare delivery and transformation. She has a diverse range of clinical and business experience and is a founder of Health Pioneers Charity, helping reduce health and education inequalities amongst lower socio-economic deprived areas and ethnic minorities.
She was one of the National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellows 2021/22 working within the Primary Medical Services and Integrated Care Directorate and a GP Registrar by background. She is the national Pulse GP Awards 2021 winner for the GP trainee/Rising Star category.
Devina holds various national and international board roles including Primary Care Advisor for the NIHR (National Institute of Health Research) Hearing Theme Board, was the National RCGP (Royal College of General Practitioners) Clinical Champion for Hearing Loss and currently works within the Diet, Lifestyle and Physical Activity team within OHID (Office for Improvement and Disparities), for the Department of Health and Social Care. She’s also part of the Commissioning and Provider Development Working at Scale Policy group in the UK GPC (General Practitioners Committee) contributing to the formation of integrated care systems across the UK.
She is passionate about ensuring the next generation of GPs have their voice heard as General Practice is reformed. She has worked on a campaign with Pulse to create the vision of General Practice, which was presented to ministers, think-tanks, NHS England and NHS Improvement, and the devolved nations. For her work and contribution to medical education, training, and policy for Junior Doctors nationally, she was invited to 10 Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister and Health Secretary.
